Ik heb hiervoor de schilderijenzaal als uitgangspunt genomen. De schilderijenzaal van het museum is rond 1700 ingrijpend verbouwd door de toenmalig bewoner, de Franeker burgemeester Suffridus Westerhuis. Hij liet er zes wandschilderingen aanbrengen. Op de schilderingen zijn Italiaans aandoende landschappen te zien, waarin gebouwtjes en reizigers worden omringd door weelderige natuur. De schilderijen fungeerden als decoratie en zijn gemaakt door schilders die optraden als interieurverfraaiers. Ik heb de schilderingen een relatie aan laten gaan met fotografie door ze te fotograferen en om te zetten in negatieven. Een schilderij waar lang aan is gewerkt wordt vertaald naar het grondmateriaal van de fotografie, waarbij door de snelle ontwikkeling van dit moderne medium inmiddels zelfs het negatief overbodig is geworden. Door de beeldvertaling ontstaan er nieuwe beelden, waarin het vertrouwde ineens exotisch wordt. Er treedt een stijlverschuiving op: van Italiaans barok naar Japanse prentkunst. De beelden zijn uitgewerkt in vier kleine uitvoeringen op matglas, materiaal dat van oudsher een relatie heeft met het fotografische negatief. Voor deze gelegenheid heeft het museum mij en twee andere Friese fotografen (Laurens Aaij en Siese Veenstra) gevraagd de markt te fotograferen. Ik heb samen met ontwerper Dorien Dolsma 12 stillevens gemaakt van typische marktproducten, die tussen de oude en de nieuwe marktlocatie in zwerven. De producten keren als het ware terug naar hun oude plek. Deze foto's zijn tijdens het openingsfestival Nieuw Zaailand te zien in de entreehal van het nieuwe Fries Museum, van donderdag 27 tot en met zaterdag 29 september. samen met Grytsje Klijnstra voor Kunst bij de Boer 2012 heb gemaakt, handelt over unica. Door middel van beeldende kunst kunnen mensen kennis maken met de biologische bedrijven in de gemeente Súdwest-Fryslân. We houden de producten van de biologische boeren tegen het licht. In de beelden hebben we gebruik gemaakt van ontleding, doorsnedes, statistiek, categorisering en registratie. In de tekst is allerhande informatie opgenomen die de boer over zijn product heeft verteld. Het gaat specifiek over dát product wat ik fotografeer, over bijvoorbeeld deze krop sla. Vandaar de naam 'dizze' (Fries voor 'deze'). De foto's zijn gedrukt op heel dun papier, op de achterkant staat de tekst in spiegelbeeld. Hou je de foto letterlijk tegen het licht, dan zie je wat er schuil gaat achter dat product. Het resultaat bestaat uit vijf tussen glas geklemde afdrukken, die te zien zijn in de biologische winkels op de route. Daarnaast zijn er hier en daar op de route kleinere versies te vinden, die de mensen mee naar huis kunnen nemen. De route loopt t/m 8 oktober 2012. The aim of this project was to strengthen social cohesion between the inhabitants and to get a beautiful piece of work for the lobby of the building. We have constructed a studio in the lobby of the building, where we were present for a week. This enhanced the accessibility for the inhabitants to take part. We took pictures of the hands of the inhabitants and from there, we were able to start off conversations. The result was a beautiful optimistic, personal collage of hands of inhabitants of the apartment building. A collage that stresses the diversity, since the hands or of people of different ages and skin tones. Every participant got a couple of copies of the pictures of his or her hand. On the back you can read all 'beautiful gestures for your neighbours' that we were able to note down from the mouths of the inhabitants. The unveiling of the collage was completely in style with amongst others a palmist, a henna-painter and an armwrestling match. [NL] Naar aanleiding van ons project 'Nieuwe Buren' in Amsterdam Noord heeft woningcoöperatie Ymere Jona Dekker en mij gevraagd om een werk te maken samen met de bewoners van flatgebouw De Gelria in Overhoeks Amsterdam. Het doel van dit project was om de sociale cohesie tussen de bewoners te versterken en een mooi werk te hebben in de grote hal van het gebouw. We hebben een studio in de hal van het flatgebouw ingericht waar we een week lang hebben gezeten. Op deze manier was de drempel erg laag om mee te doen en hebben we de handen van de bewoners gefotografeerd en van daaruit zijn er gesprekken op gang gekomen. Als resultaat een mooie, optimistische, persoonlijke collage van handen van bewoners uit de flat. Een collage die bovendien de diversiteit benadrukt doordat het handen zijn van mensen van verschillende leeftijden en huidkleuren. Elke deelnemer heeft een aantal kaarten gekregen met zijn/haar eigen hand. Op de achterzijde kun je alle 'Mooie gebaren voor je buren' lezen die wij hebben opgetekend uit de monden van de bewoners. De onthulling van de collage was geheel in stijl met onder andere een handlezeres, een henna-schilderes en een wedstrijd handje drukken.
